Save Up to $10,000

Solar panels are one of the fastest ways to cut down on your on-grid energy consumption, reducing your reliance on traditional power sources – and the price uncertainty that comes with them.

BC Hydro offers $1 per watt of installed direct current (DC) solar panels for up to:

  • $5,000 off Single Family Homes
  • $10,000 off Multi-Unit Residential Buildings
  • $10,000 off Commercial Buildings

This rebate can pay for up to 50% of the total combined cost of labour and materials for your solar panel install.

Are You Eligible?

Eligible properties for these rebates include:

  • (a) residential single family homes including single family detached dwellings; duplex, triplex, row home or townhomes; or mobile homes that are fixed to a permanent foundation, and are structurally complete with installed and connected plumbing, heating, electrical, water and sewer services, and with towing apparatus and axle removed;
  • (b) multi-unit residential building or strata common area, on a single meter;
  • (c) commercial building; (each an “Eligible Property”)

The following types of buildings or property are not eligible for the Rebate:

  • individually metered suites within multi-unit residential buildings such as strata, condominium, and apartment units,
  • garages, workshops, and outbuildings,
  • unheated, seasonal, or unoccupied buildings,
  • secondary suites or units within an Eligible Property (including suites with separate meters), e. any movable property.

$75,000 Rebates for First Nations Governments

Did you know BC Hydro also offers a rebate for solar panel installation projects paid for by First Nations Governments? They are eligible to receive up to $75,000 in rebates for up to 75% of the combined labour and materials cost.
